Hurricanes Preparing for Busy Week

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club is preparing for a busy week as they brace for the 2016 WHL Awards Ceremony and the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, both to take place in Calgary.

The WHL Awards is slated to take place on Wednesday beginning at 12:30pm MT. The Hurricanes have been nominated for three league awards. General Manager Peter Anholt has been nominated for the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Trophy as the WHL Executive of the Year; Head Coach Brent Kisio has been nominated for the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy as the WHL Coach of the Year; and Captain Tyler Wong has been nominated for the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy as the WHL Humanitarian of the Year.

The WHL Bantam Draft will take place on Thursday starting at 8:30am MT. After selecting second overall in 2014 and 2015, the Hurricanes will select 19th out of the 22 teams after a Central Division winning season. The Hurricanes hold a total of 13 picks in the 12 round draft.

Round 5 - 99th overall (acquired from Regina)

Round 9 - 184th overall (from Spokane)

Round 9 - 195th overall

Round 10 - 217th overall

Round 11 - 239th overall

Round 12 - 261st overall
