Albany Devils News Release

RALEIGH, NC - Jason Karmanos, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that left wings Andrew Ladd and Niklas Nordgren have been reassigned to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League. Ladd and Nordgren will join the Lock Monsters for their game Wednesday night against the Providence Bruins at Lowell's Tsongas Arena. Ladd is expected to rejoin the Hurricanes for their game on Thursday at Tampa Bay.

Ladd, 20, is in his first professional season and has played in 17 games with Carolina, notching six goals and two assists (8 points). The Maple Ridge, B.C., native began the season with the Lock Monsters and has eight goals and four assists (12 points) in 16 AHL games. Ladd (6'2", 201 lbs.) missed 18 NHL games following a knee injury he sustained in the Hurricanes' game at Phoenix on Dec. 3. The Hurricanes selected Nordgren (6'0", 185 lbs.) in the eighth round, 195th overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

Morlang, 24, has served two brief stints with the Monsters already this season. He has appeared in eight AHL games this season, four of which have come with Lowell. Morlang last played with the Lock Monsters on January 29th, when he scored the game-tying goal against the Toronto Marlies. The Abbotsford, B.C. native has 19 points (9g-10a) in 27 ECHL games this season with the Reading Royals.
