Hunwick Shines in Victory over Walleye

Toledo, OH - Goaltender Shawn Hunwick made 43 saves to help the South Carolina Stingrays (6-8-0-1) defeat the Toledo Walleye (6-6-0-1) 2-1 at Huntington Center Sunday evening.

The Stingrays capitalized first when forward Matthew Pistilli caught a bouncing puck and beat Walleye goaltender Kent Simpson (L, 21 saves on 23 shots) under the right pad at 6:23 of the first period.

Forward Dylan Clarke put the Stingrays up 2-0 at 12:10 of the middle frame from forwards Tyler McNelly and Hunter Bishop.

The Walleye cut the lead in half at 6:11 of the third period when forward Luke Glendening knocked a loose pass over the left arm of Hunwick. The Stingrays finished the game 0-for-1 on the power play while the Walleye went 0-for-2.

The Stingrays wrap up a season-long six-game road trip Tuesday, November 13 against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 10:30 a.m. at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday, November 16 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. for Salute to Heroes Night with local EMS, fire and police departments.
