Jackson Generals News Release

Jackson, TN - The Huntsville Stars jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held on to defeat the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 5-4 before a crowd of 1097 fans on a soggy Saturday night at Pringles Park.

Playing in a steady drizzle, the Huntsville Stars scored four runs in the fourth inning off of losing pitcher Bobby Brownlie (0-1), making his first appearance with the Diamond Jaxx since being sent down from Triple-A Iowa on May 5th. Khalid Ballouli contributed to his own cause with a two run single, followed by a two run single by Kennard Bibbs. Huntsville made it 5-0 in the fifth inning when Drew Anderson scored on a double play.

The Diamond Jaxx scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth off of Ballouli (2-1). Jon-Mark Sprowl drove in the first run with a pinch-hit run scoring single. Chris Walker made it 5-2 when he hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Carlos Rojas. The Diamond Jaxx struck for two more runs in the sixth inning on a run scoring double by Scott Moore and a RBI groundout by Rojas.

The Diamond Jaxx had the tying run at second base with two outs in the ninth inning but Stephen Bray nailed down the save by getting Nic Jackson to ground out to first, ending Jackson's hitting streak at twenty-one games, thirteen of those games coming in Daytona.

The Diamond Jaxx start a ten game road trip on Sunday night in Pearl, Mississippi as they take on the Mississippi Braves from TrustMark Park at 7:05 CDT. Lefty J.R. Mathis (2-2 4.65) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. The Braves will counter with righty Daniel Curtis (1-2 5.40).
