May 6, 2006 - Southern League (SL1)
Mobile BayBears News Release
ZEBULON, NC- Kevin Randel's game winning ninth inning single led Carolina to an 8-7 win over the BayBears Friday night in Zebulon, NC. The game featured a one hour and 22 minute rain delay, and the ejections of Mobile Manager Gary Jones and Carolina Pitching Coach Rich Gale. The BayBears have now lost three of the first four games of the series.
Carolina sent 11 batters to the plate in the seventh inning, scoring six runs to take a 7-4 lead. Mobile scored three runs in a rain-interrupted eighth inning to tie it, but Randel's single off Leo Rosales won the game. Jose Oyervidez started the game for Mobile, but left after four innings when he was hit in the calf with a line drive.
The BayBears and Mudcats finish their series Saturday at 6:15. Roger Deago (3-1) is the starter for the BayBears, against Carolina's LHP Ben Julianel (0-1). All BayBears games can be heard on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 18, and on the internet via mobilebaybears.com.
