ZEBULON, NC- The Mobile BayBears scored once in the ninth inning on a Kennard Jones RBI triple to cut the BayBears to within one of the Carolina Mudcats, but Jones would be left at third in Carolina?s 4-3 win. The BayBears lost four of five in the visit to Carolina, and finish the season series against the Mudcats winning three of the 10 meetings.
Mobile took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a Juan Ciriaco two-run double, but lost the lead in the bottom of the second when Angel Molina hit a three-run home run off Roger Deago. Jones, Ciriaco, and Luis Cruz all had two hits for Mobile. Deago (3-2) took his second loss of the series, after pitching five innings and allowing three runs.
The BayBears will travel to Chattanooga and play the Cincinnati Reds AA affiliate for five games beginning Sunday. Sean Thompson (0-2) will pitch against Chattanooga?s Eddy Valdez (1-1).
