Huge Inning Sends 'Birds by Rainiers

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis rallied for a franchise-record 10 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to fly by Tacoma 13-9 Monday night at AutoZone Park.

The Redbirds sent 13 men to the plate in the eighth collecting a season-best six hits and belting a season-high three home runs. Allen Craig led off the inning with his first home run of the year and two batters later Bryan Anderson's two-run shot gave Memphis the lead. Tyler Greene added to the lead with a two-run single and Craig drove in two more runs with a single. Mark Hamilton's three-run blast capped the historic rally. Craig finished the night with five RBI and three hits to lead the ‘Birds. Tommy Everidge drove in three runs and went 3-for-5 for Tacoma.

Josh Kinney earned the win for Memphis with a scoreless inning of relief. Levale Speigner took the loss giving up seven runs on four hits while recording just one out. Memphis starter Lance Lynn gave up five runs on eight hits in his five innings of work.

The Redbirds wrap up the homestand tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Adam Ottavino gets the ball for the home team against Rainiers lefty Chris Seddon.
