Round Rock Express News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Cold rain mixed with sleet and hail forced the suspension of Monday night's Pacific Coast League game between the Round Rock Express and Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Services Field. Round Rock leads 9-8 with runners at first and second and two outs in the top of the eighth inning. The game will be finished from that point Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. CDT. Tuesday's regulary scheduled series finale will start 30 minutes following the completion of the suspended game.

Colorado Springs built a 4-0 lead with a run in the second and three more in the fourth. After the teams traded runs in the fifth inning, Drew Locke's three-run homer in the top of the sixth pulled the Express to withing one run at 5-4. The Sky Sox answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth, but a four-run seventh gave the Express an 8-6 lead. Chris Shelton's two-run homer tied the game, and consecutive RBI doubles from Jason Castro and Matt Kata put Round Rock ahead; all four runs in the inning came with two outs.

As rain and sleet began to fall, the Sky Sox tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. However, the Express once again answered in the top of the eighth. Brian Bogusevic's two-out RBI double inched the Express ahead 9-8. After Shelton was hit by a pitch, the tarp was pulled and a delay ensued. Less than an hour later, the decision was made to suspend the game.

Southpaw Wesley Wright (2-0, 3.11 ERA) is slated to start Tuesday's scheduled game for the Express, opposite Colorado Springs left-hander Kurt Birkins (1-2, 15.43 ERA).
