River Cats To Celebrate Raley Field 10th Anniversary May 21

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 17, 2010 - The 10th Anniversary of Raley Field will be celebrated on Friday, May 21 when the Sacramento River Cats host the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A Affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) at 7:05 p.m. Highlighting the evening's festivities will be world famous local artist David Garibaldi performing and painting the likeness of a person that was instrumental in making Raley Field a reality.

The Raley Field 10th Anniversary celebration will extend throughout the night beginning as soon as fans walk through the gates. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a 10th Anniversary Raley Field Flip Book presented by PG&E. Also, memories of Raley Field throughout the years will be presented during the game for all to share in this exciting milestone. Additionally, River Cats players will be signing autographs on the concourse prior to the game and fans can take part in the Toyota Family Value Friday promotions with $1 hot dogs and $1 desserts available for all.

Memorable Dates in Raley Field History

- 1/8/97 - West Sacramento land-option deal signed.

- 12/7/98 - Raley's supermarket chain, based in West Sacramento, acquired the naming rights to the stadium for the next 20 years.

- 8/30/99 - Art Savage, in conjunction with the River City Baseball organization, secured financing for the construction of a 10,000-seat ballpark that would return Triple-A baseball back to a region after a 23-year absence.

- 5/15/00 - The River Cats play their first game at Raley Field.

- 8/31/00 - Highest attendance for a River Cats game at Raley Field was set as 15,146 fans walked through the gates.

- 9/7/00 - River Cast win their first PCL Playoff game, a 4-0 shutout of Salt Lake, but fall three games to two in the best-of-five, first-round series.

- 2001 - The Solon Club is completed with a roof to help protect fans in that area from the elements.

- 9/2001 - River Cats record a PCL season attendance record as 901,214 fans go through the gates at Raley Field.

- 5/17/02 - River Cats play the longest extra-inning game in Raley Field history, a record four-hour and 57 minute, 12-inning game against Tucson that lasted well past midnight.

- 5/16/05 - River Cats play the longest 9-inning game at Raley Field, a four-hour and 22 minute marathon against New Orleans.

- 7/13/05 - Raley Field is home to the 2005 PCL All-Star Game which drew a sell-out crowd and a PCL victory against the International League.

- 6/9/06 - River Cats register no hits for the first time at Raley Field on the back end of a double header contest with Portland.

- 2005 - Party deck is built along the first base side to accommodate groups of up to 80 people.

- 2007 - Raley Field debuts the Jackson Rancheria Home Run Terrace, a group and hospitality area outfitted with flat screen televisions and lounge chairs.

- 6/28/07 - River Cats play the longest game in Raley Field history, an 8-7, 16-inning marathon loss to Fresno.

- 7/17/08: Approval received for 3,500 seat amphitheater to be built at Raley Field.

- 5/19/09 - River Cats tie a team record for most stolen bases (6) in a game at Raley Field against Round Rock.

- 11/18/09 - First phase of the Bridge District development is approved which will enhance amenities around Raley Field. Phase one to be completed toward the end of 2011.

- 4/7/10 - USA Today Names Raley Field Among Top 10 Minor League Ballparks.

- 4/16/10 - Raley Field unveils its most significant investment since opening the stadium, Cat Vision -- a new high definition video board that is 800 square-feet with a 44 foot display area and 60 percent larger than the one it replaced.

- In the 10-year history of Raley Field, the River Cats have won eight South Division titles, four PCL championships and two Triple-A championships. Over those 10 years, Raley Field has led PCL attendance numbers.

- Additionally some notable musical acts have appeared at Raley Field over the years including: The Black Eyed Peas, Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, Kenny G, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Willie Nelson.
