Huge Game by Starzynski Boosts Bismarck Over Janesville, 5-2

Behind a great game by Filip Starzynski, who had one goal and two assists, the Bismarck Bobcats defeated the Janesville Jets, 5-2.

Starzynski beat Reed Kinsey with a shot 4:09 into the third period on the power play to make the score 3-2 Bismarck. Bismarck had gotten the advantage when Janesville's Zach Yoder was sent off for cross checking. Nate Repensky assisted on the tally. Starzynski dished an assist on Stanislav Dzakhov's goal that made the score 2-2 at 2:41 into the third period. He added another helper on Seth Blair's goal that made the score 5-2 Bismarck at 19:56 into the third period.

The Jets' power play was ineffective against the Bobcats' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Bismarck's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Janesville power plays. The Bobcats relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Dzakhov, Starzynski and Matt Anders took 13 of the team's 25 shots.

Bismarck also got points from Dzakhov, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jared Dedenbach also scored for Bismarck. More assists for Bismarck came via Huba Sekesi and Matt Perry, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 24 shots on goal, Janesville exceeded the 21.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Jets were helped by Jordan Himley, who grabbed one goal. Himley scored 1:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Janesville. Robin Hoglund picked up the assist. Janesville also got a goal from Adam Winborg as well. In addition, Janesville received assists from Alex Tremblay, who had one and Michael Louria, who had two.

Aaron Nelson recorded 22 saves for Bismarck. The Bobcats totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Janesville's Kinsey stopped 20 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Jets ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
