FREDERICK, MD (APRIL 11, 2012) - The Dash scored seven runs in the first inning en route to a commanding 13-0 victory over the defending Mills Cup Champion Frederick Keys Wednesday night at Harry Grove Stadium.

Winston-Salem (2-3) sent 11 men to the plate in the first inning. The Dash clubbed seven hits, six of which were singles. Mike Blanke chased home a pair of runners with a single, and Daniel Wagner doubled home a run. Dan Black and Nick Ciolli notched RBI singles, and Ross Wilson added an RBI groundout.

The Dash's seven-run first was the highest scoring inning in the Carolina League thus far this season, topping Carolina's six-run eighth inning April 6. Winston-Salem also scored more runs in Wednesday's game than any CL club has in a single game this year.

Winston continued its offensive explosion in the third with a pair of runs. Wagner brought home a run with a sacrifice fly. A Frederick (3-2) throwing error brought home another Dash tally.

One inning later, Black continued his incredible series with a solo shot down the right field line. Black, who set a season high for a Dash swinger with four hits yesterday, is 6-for-9 with two homers and four runs batted in during this three-game set.

Michael Earley capped off the scoring with a towering two-run blast to left in the ninth inning for his first career home run at the High-A level.

Dash starter Matt Heidenreich (1-0) did not need much offensive support. He recorded the best start by a Winston-Salem starter this season, going five innings and scattering three hits. The right-hander whiffed six and stranded five Keys runners.

Out of the bullpen, Justin Collop tossed two hitless innings. Paul Burnside whiffed the side in the eighth inning, and Kyle Bellamy secured the victory in the ninth. Frederick mustered just three base hits, which is a season-low for a Dash opponent.

The Dash wrap up their season-opening six-game road swing Thursday night at 7:00 in Frederick. Jake Petricka (0-1, 6.75 ERA), the fourth-best prospect in the White Sox minor league system, takes to the mound for the Dash against fellow right-hander Kyle Simon (0-0, 8.10 ERA).

The Dash open up their home schedule Friday night against Carolina at BB&T Ballpark. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets for opening weekend, visit wsdash.com or call the Dash at (336) 714-2287.
