Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The dollars were crisp, the beer and soda were flowing and the Green Bay Blizzard executed one of their most solid performances of the season in front of 6,930 screaming fans on "Buck Night" at U.S. Cellular Field at the Resch Center. The visiting Quad City Steamwheelers were welcomed with an onslaught of scoring strikes and defensive pressure from the Blizzard and a decibel eruption brought on by the great 9th Man, devoted fans of the Blizzard. The Blizzard finished off the Steamwheelers with a 52-35 win.

QB Ryan Porter (24-39-0, 270 yards and 5 TD) got the nod as the starting quarterback this week and took advantage of his opportunity and proved true to his nickname "Clutch". After Quad City got on the board first with a touchdown run from FB Nik Kerr, Porter connected with JLS Ironman of the Game WR Anthony Crissinger-Hill (4-72, 2 TD) for one of his two unbelievable touchdown catches. Porter however used newly assigned and Schutt Offensive Player of the game WR Coco Blalock to direct his way down the field all night long. Blalock, after only being assigned on Tuesday afternoon by the league office in Chicago, made his presence felt all over the field hauling in 13 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown.

The Steamwheelers could not handle the Blizzard defensive pressure which produced three costly turnovers. ADT Defensive Player of the Game DL Joe Sykes recovered a JJ Raterink fumble in the endzone to give the Blizzard their final score of a 15 minute scoring draught for the Steamwheelers.

The Blizzard 9th Man was on its feet and the decibel level in the Resch Center reached its climax when Porter threw two more touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to WR Quorey Payne (5-59, 2 TD) to solidify the Blizzard victory, 52-35.

The Blizzard will have the benefit of having two home games back to back as they host the Iowa Barnstormers next Friday, May 2nd at U.S. Cellular Field at the Resch Center. On hand for the night will be the University of Wisconsin Marching Band playing at halftime and their legendary 5th Quarter. Tickets are on sale at the Ticketstar Box Office by calling (920)494-3401.
