DES MOINES, IA - An NBA D-League season high crowd of 8,368 fans watched the Iowa Energy extend their winning streak to four games with a 102-78 victory over the Erie BayHawks Saturday night in Des Moines.
The Energy opened the game with a 12-0 run as guard Pat Carroll scored the first six points of the contest. Iowa's defensive presence was evident from the get-go as the Energy led 45-35 at the halftime break.
Iowa's defense continued to stifle Erie in the second half as they held the visitors to just two points in the first 6:52 of the half. The Energy extended their lead to 32 points on a Curtis Stinson layup with 7:30 remaining in the game and coasted home for the win.
For the game, Iowa held Erie to just 36.0% shooting from the field and forced 19 BayHawk turnovers.
Pat Carroll led a balanced Iowa scoring attack with 17 points. Othyus Jeffers (15 points), Courtney Sims (15), Cartier Martin (13), Curtis Stinson (12) and Marvin Phillips (11) all scored in double figures for the Energy, who played without starting guard Jeff Trepagnier who was out with injury.
Erie was led by Ivan Harris' 21 points while Cliff Clinkscales added 18 for the visitor.
The win pushes Iowa's record to 25-6 on the year while Erie falls to 12-19.
The Energy host Erie again on Tuesday night in a "Two for Tuesday" game. Sideline tickets are two for the price of one. For tickets, call 564-8550, visit www.iowanba.com or the Wells Fargo Arena box office.
