66ers Dim the Flash 103-96 on the Road

OREM, Utah - A Latavious Williams jumper and a Mustafa Shakur three-pointer in the final two minutes of the game helped give the Tulsa 66ers a 103-96 victory over the Utah Flash on Friday at the McKay Events Center in Orem, Utah.
The 66ers marched out on a 12-4 run to start the game, capped by a Shakur three with 7:18 remaining in the first quarter. Two turnovers by the 66ers with under three minutes left in the period gave Oriene Greene the opportunity to score five-straight points, as a 6-0 Flash run cut the Tulsa lead to 27-23 with 1:24 remaining. The 66ers shot 13-of-16 in the quarter and took a 31-25 edge into the break.
Ahead by three at 39-36 with 7:05 remaining in the first half, Moses Ehambe connected on two straight three-pointers for the 66ers that extended their lead to nine. The Flash subsequently went on a 9-2 run to get within 47-45 following an Andre Ingram three-pointer with 3:36 left in the half. Utah managed to tie the game at 49 with 2:34 on the clock, but the 66ers battled their way to a 55-52 advantage at halftime.
A 9-0 run by the 66ers early in the third quarter pushed their lead to 66-54 with 6:52 remaining, capped by a Cecil Brown three-pointer. The Flash battled back with a 15-4 run to trail by one at 70-69 with 2:49 left in the period, following a Gabe Pruitt three, but Tulsa sustained and went into the final quarter with a 76-71 edge. Brown scored nine points in the third quarter, as the 66ers shot 40 percent (8-20) in the period. The Flash shot 31.3 percent (5-16) in the quarter.
Three jumpers by Larry Owens, Brown and DeVon Hardin pushed the 66ers to a nine-point edge at 82-73 with 10:17 left in the game. The Flash battled to within three at 88-85, but Brown buried a long fade-away jumper, and Hardin hammered home a huge slam dunk to put Tulsa back up 92-85 with 4:23 remaining. Dontell Jefferson of the Flash scored six of the next eight points in the contest, as the Flash went on an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 93-92 with 1:23 left in the game. But Williams hit a long jumper from the baseline to give the lead back to Tulsa, and Shakur hit a bank shot three-pointer to give the 66ers the cushion they needed for the win. Brown scored 10 and Williams grabbed seven rebounds in the final quarter.
Tulsa outrebounded the Flash 43-28 for the game.
Six of the eight players in uniform scored in double-figures, as the 66ers moved to 14-13 on the season. Brown scored a team-high 20 points, including shooting 11-of-13 from the free throw line. Shakur added 17 points, while Williams contributed his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Owens finished with 14 points, Marcus Lewis had 14 points and six boards off the bench, and Hardin added 10 points and eight boards.
The Flash (16-14) were led by Greene with 22 points, while Jefferson added 21 points and six assists. Carlos Wheeler contributed 14 points and eight boards, and Ingram finished with 12 points.
