Huge Crowd Sees Sky Carp Fall to Chiefs

BELOIT - A monster crowd of 3,701 filled the stands at ABC Supply Stadium Sunday afternoon to see a thriller of a ballgame between the Sky Carp and the Chiefs.
The Sky Carp were flawless on the mound, with the exception of a four-run third inning that spelled the difference between winning and losing in a 4-3 defeat to Peoria.
Tyler Eckburg was especially effective out of the pen, stranding two runners when he entered the game in the fourth inning and then pitching two more scoreless frames.
Franklin Sanchez, Edgar Sanchez and Cristian Charle combined for four scoreless frames to round out the game.
Beloit trailed 4-0 before they crawled back into the game. Jake Thompson cracked his 13th home run of the season, a two-run blast to cut the lead in half in the fourth inning. They later added another run in the fifth frame on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Sky Carp will now take to the road to take on the Quad Cities River Bandits for six games. Beloit returns home for its final homestand of the season, a 12-game stand that opens on Tuesday, August 22 against Lake County.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
