FISHKILL, NY ---  Charles Epperson led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a triple and scored the game-winning run three batters later on a Michael O'Conner bases loaded infield single to give the Hudson Valley Renegades a 5-4 victory and a sweep of the three-game series with the Vermont Lake Monsters in New York-Penn League action Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium.

Epperson greeted Vermont reliever Deyvi Jimenez with his first triple of the season to centerfield. After back-to-back walks to load the bases, O'Conner singled with the infield in to second baseman Chris Bostick to score Epperson with the winning run. The three-game sweep marks the third straight six-game roadtrip that the Lake Monsters have been swept in the first of the two series on the trip (also July 9-11 at Jamestown and July 25-27 at Auburn).

Vermont took a 1-0 lead and snapped a 19-inning scoreless streak in the top of the sixth on a Bruce Maxwell two-out RBI single scoring Brett Vertigan. Lake Monsters starter Tyler Vail held Hudson Valley to just one hit over the first 5 2/3 innings before the Renegades put together three straight two-out singles in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead.

Lake Monsters quickly retook the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh for a 4-3 advantage. Diomedes Lopez scored on a one-out double by Addison Russell, who tied the game on a Chris Bostick two-out RBI single. Bostick advanced to second on his single on the throw home, then was able to score the go ahead run when John Wooten reached on a throwing error by shortstop Leonardo Reginatto. The Renegades were able to tie the game in the eighth as O'Conner doubled, then scored with two outs on a passed ball and a wild pitch.

Austin Booker, Maxwell and Lopez each had two hits for the Lake Monsters, while Daniel Robertson went 1-for-4 in his debut with Vermont after the 2012 first-round pick was promoted from the Arizona League A's. Vail ended up being charged with three runs (two earned) on three hits with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings, while Jimenez fell to 0-4 with the loss.

O'Connor and Williams both had two hits for Hudson Valley (35-16), while Reginatto had two RBI and Ryan Garton (3-0) two strikeouts in a scoreless inning for the win. The Lake Monsters are now 2-3 in extra-inning games this season, including 0-3 on the road, and have been beaten in sudden-death fashion in three of their last nine losses.

The six-game roadtrip continues with the first of a three-game series at Brooklyn beginning on Friday night at 7:05 pm. After single games Saturday and Sunday followed by the NY-Penn League All-Star break, Vermont will begin a six-game homestand at historic Centennial Field on August 15th.
