Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - Tyler Hardman's 2-for-4 night propelled the Hudson Valley Renegades to a 6-4 win over the Greenville Drive on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Hardman crushed his team-leading 13th home run, slammed an RBI single, and scored two runs in the win.
In the third game of his MLB rehab assignment, Ben Rortvedt finished 0-for-2, playing five innings at catcher.
Hudson Valley plated two in the bottom of the first against Greenville starter Chih-Jung Liu (1-9). Trey Sweeney walked, Cooper Bowman singled, and Anthony Seigler grounded into a fielder's choice, with two throwing errors allowing both Sweeney and Bowman to score.
Bowman walked and stole second in the third, becoming the single-season and all-time Renegades single-season and career leader with 34 stolen bases.
Yoendrys Gomez was excellent again for Hudson Valley, firing three scoreless, hitless innings, walking two and striking out four.
The Drive plated a run in the top of the fourth against Blane Abeyta. Gilberto Jimenez served an RBI double to left to trim the deficit to 2-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Renegades responded on Hardman's blast, lengthening the lead to 3-1.
Hudson Valley tacked on in the bottom of the sixth. In his first game with the Renegades, Grant Richardson knocked an RBI single to right, scoring Anthony Seigler from second to make it 4-1 Hudson Valley.
In the top of the eighth, Niko Kavadas launched a solo homer off Abeyta to cut the Renegades lead to 4-2.
Abeyta (3-6) earned the win in relief, tossing five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, walking two and striking out four.
The Renegades added two more in the bottom of the eighth. Hardman banged an RBI single, advanced on two wild pitches, and scored to pad the lead to 6-2.
In the top of the ninth, Jaxx Groshans laced an RBI triple and Antoni Flores lifted a sacrifice fly to pull within two at 6-4, but Alex Mauricio bounced back to set down the side and secure the victory.
