
Couch Potatoes Go Back-To-Back-To-Back in Defeat

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads, once again playing as their Couch Potatoes alternate identity, got fried 18-11 on Friday night against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
Wilmington exploded for 14 runs through the first four innings.
The Couch Potatoes got on the board in bottom of the fourth on a solo homerun by Evan Carter.
The Blue Rocks scored four more in the sixth inning to wrap up their scoring for the night.
The Taters weren't done fighting, putting up six un the bottom of the seventh. Aaron Zavala, Cody Freeman, and Evan Carter went back-to-back-to-back with solo homeruns, the first time the team has accomplished the feat since 2012. Thomas Saggese and Trevor Hauver drew walks to keep the offense rolling. Chris Seise doubled in Saggese and sent Hauver to third. Keyber Rodriguez picked up a base hit to right to drive in Hauver and make it a 18-7 game.
The Couch Potato bats continued to heat up in the eighth as they chipped away with four more runs. Zavala hit a ground-rule double to lead off the inning. Freeman smacked his second homerun of the evening to bring in two. The Taters repeated the pattern for two more runs as Saggese doubled and Trevor Hauver hit a homer to right.
Frainyer Chavez moved from second base to the mound in the ninth for Hickory. He retired the first batter on a grounder to third. The second hitter hit a ground ball to short and reached on a fielding error by Seise. Chavez closed out the inning with a pop out and a force out at second on another groundball.
The Couch Potatoes went down in order in the ninth to fall 18-11.
Tomorrow night will be the final night of the Couch Potatoes identity. The first 1,000 fans will receive a chip/cookie bowl thanks to Girls Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont and KICKS 103.3.
