Hubbard Blast Lifts Jaxx

(Zebulon, NC) August 6th- Marshall Hubbard's three run homer in the eighth inning lifted the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx past the Carolina Mudcats 6-5 before a crowd of 2363 on Monday night at Five County Stadium.

Hubbard hit the home run off losing pitcher Scott Nestor (1-4) after Nestor walked Luis Valbuena and Charlton Jimerson to open up the inning. Hubbard finished the night with three hits and three RBI's. The Diamond Jaxx rallied from a 3-0 deficit to pick up the win, their second straight over Carolina. Brodie Downs (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Mumba Rivera, despite giving up two runs in the ninth inning, picked up his second save of the season.

Chase Lambin had three hits and a RBI while Lee Mitchell drove in two runs to pace the Mudcats attack.

The Diamond Jaxx and Carolina play the rubber game of the five game series on Tuesday night at 6:15 CDT. Right-hander Andy Baldwin (3-10 4.42) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Carolina will counter with left-hander Blake McGinley (4-7 4.61).
