Hronek Notches Overtime Winner against Wolves

ROSEMONT, Ill. - With 2:24 remaining in overtime, Filip Hronek slotted the puck past Chicago Wolves' goaltender Oscar Dansk to help the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 4-3 overtime win at Allstate Arena on Saturday.

Grand Rapids and Chicago (10-5-2-1) are scheduled to meet five more times this season, with the Griffins currently leading the eight-game series 2-1. With the overtime win, the Griffins (9-7-0-2) now have points in nine of their past 11 games.

Grand Rapids returns to action on Nov. 26 when it travels to face the Iowa Wild at Wells Fargo Arena. Puck drop is slated for 8 p.m. EST.

Chicago found twine first at 10:05 in the opening period. Griffin Reinhart took a shot from the left-wing circle and Tyler Wong tipped the puck past goaltender Harri Sateri from in front of the net to give the Wolves an early advantage.

Keegan Kolesar almost had an identical goal seven minutes later when Jake Bischoff fired off a shot from the blue line near the boards. Kolesar tipped the puck into the net, and despite a review to waive the goal for a high-stick, the goal stood and gave Chicago a two-goal cushion headed into the second period.

While the Wolves scored the only two goals in the first period, the Griffins took control of scoring in the second. At 14:12, Filip Zadina gathered the puck near the Wolves' blue line and took it to Dansk's net. He sent the puck to Camper, who's shot bounced off, and Zadina stuffed the rebound past Dansk for Grand Rapids' first goal.

At 18:36, while shorthanded due to a Zadina cross-checking penalty, Turner Elson tied the game at 2-2 after Wade Megan collected the puck off a faceoff and sent it to him near the blue line. With a quick shot, Elson buried it past Dansk to make the score even headed into the final frame.

Halfway through the third period, Chris Terry picked up the puck along the boards and sent it to the slot, where it ricocheted off the skate of Chicago defenseman Dylan Coghlan and past Dansk. The goal put the Griffins in the lead for the first time of the match, 3-2.

With 5:38 remaining, T.J. Tynan collected the puck near Dansk's net and brought it down the ice to the slot, where he passed it to Reinhart. Reinhart quickly buried it past Sateri to again tie up the game, this time at 3-3.

It wasn't until Hronek's goal midway through the overtime period that the final score of 4-3 was determined.

Sateri and Dansk both finished the night with 27 saves each.

Notes: The Griffins finished 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and 0-for-4 on the power play...Grand Rapids has faced the Wolves the second-most of any opponent, playing 150 times throughout the regular season...The Griffins lead the all-time series with Chicago, 82-57-3-6-3...With the win, Grand Rapids has broken a four-game win streak for the Wolves at home.
