
Howard Delivers the Nuts Second Straight Win

San Jose, C.A. - Sam Howard pitched the Modesto Nuts to a 5-2 victory over the San Jose Giants on Friday night at Municipal Stadium.
Howard (W, 2-1) worked seven stellar innings with a career-high ten strikeouts for the Nuts (14-20). Howard was touched for just two runs four hits and no walks.
With the game tied in the seventh, Wes Rogers laid down a beautiful squeeze bunt leading to the go-ahead run against Giants (19-13) starter D.J. Snelton (L, 1-3). Snelton tossed seven innings and allowed just three runs with nine hits.
Logan Cozart (S, 1/1) tossed the final two innings for the Nuts and struck out two.
Omar Carrizales had two hits to extend his hitting streak to ten games. Shane Hoelscher stayed hot with three hits. Luis Jean drove in two insurance runs in the eighth.
