
Houston falls to San Antonio

HOUSTON --- Justin Fontaine scored his first professional goal and Casey Wellman scored his fourth goal in three games, but it wasn't enough as Houston fell to San Antonio 4-3 in a shootout Saturday at Toyota Center.
Angelo Esposito scored the deciding goal in the 11th round of the shootout. Brian Foster made 22 saves and stopped 10 shots in the shootout for San Antonio.
The teams skated through eight scoreless shootout rounds before Mark Cullen finally broke through for the Rampage. Fontaine added a goal to extend the extra session before Esposito clinched it.
Matt Hackett had 23 saves and stopped 9 of 11 shots in the shootout for Houston, who remain unbeaten in regulation at 2-0-0-1. Fontaine's even-strength tally at 3:27 in the second period gave the Aeros a 3-2 lead. Bracken Kearns tied the score at 3-3 at 13 minutes into the third. Jeff Penner and Wellman each scored power play goals in the first period to give Houston a one-goal advantage after Mike Kostka put San Antonio up 1-0 with a goal at 4:22 in the first period. and Evgeny Dadonov tied the score at 2-2 with a goal at 3:15 in the second period.
Prior to the game, the Aeros unveiled their 2010-11 AHL Western Conference Championship banner.
The Aeros visit Oklahoma City on Sunday at 4 p.m. to close out thier first 3-in-3 set of the season. They visit Charlotte on Friday and Saturday of this week before returning home on Sunday, Oct. 23, versus Grand Rapids at 5:05 p.m.
