Houston Dynamo Sign Brooklyn Raines as Homegrown Player

HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC have signed 16-year-old midfielder Brooklyn Raines to a multi-year Homegrown Player contract after finalizing a trade to acquire his exclusive Homegrown territory rights from Real Salt Lake. Houston sent $50,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money to Real Salt Lake as part of the trade.

Raines most recently played in the USL Championship for El Paso Locomotive. Prior to playing with El Paso, Raines was a member of the Barcelona Academy in Arizona, which he joined in 2018. Raines is a regular member of the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team program.

"We want Houston Dynamo FC to be a destination for the top young talent in the country and the signing of Brooklyn Raines is a step in the right direction," said Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad. "Brooklyn has drawn interest from around the world and we are proud that he chose to continue his development in Houston. He is a high potential player and we look forward to him advancing through our player development pathway."

Raines also spent time training with Austrian side RB Salzburg this past winter. The midfielder will join the Dynamo first team in Arizona for the remainder of training camp.

Transaction: Houston Dynamo FC sign midfielder Brooklyn Raines to a four-year Homegrown Player contract, with an option for a fifth year, after trading for his exclusive Homegrown territory rights from Real Salt Lake in exchange for $50,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money.
