Academy Update: Kicking off 2022 in MLS NEXT
February 4, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health is returning to competitive play this weekend following winter break. Notably, the U-17 and U-15 groups will return to action against MLS NEXT opposition, taking on Nashville SC.
Coaches and players alike have been hard at work preparing for a strong return to the pitch. For U-17 head coach Javier Morales, this weekend's match is an opportunity to put that hard work and preparation into practice.
"We are very excited, especially after a long break. It's gonna be the first game we play [of the new year] and it's against an MLS team. I think the guys have been working really, really hard, so now we are ready to go," said Morales.
One of Morales' players echoed the sentiment, citing the team's process leading back into competitive play.
"We've been thinking about the tactics, preparing mentally and physically. We're really looking forward to the game and hoping to get these three points," said U-17 player Cesar Abadía.
Ahead of Saturday's matches at the Inter Miami CF Training Center, U-15 player Daniel Pinter shared that he feels the team is ready for this matchup.
"Our team and our coaches have been preparing us very well mentally this week. Our training sessions have been even more competitive, so we're really excited to play Nashville this weekend," said Pinter. "We expect it to be a really competitive game, and hopefully, we can get the win."
