Sporting KC to Kick off Season with State Line Block Party

Sporting Kansas City will kick off the team's highly anticipated 2022 season against Atlanta United FC at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 27 and, to celebrate the start of the new MLS campaign, the club will host a State Line Block Party presented by Michelob Ultra and adidas.
Covering two blocks of Kansas City in the heart of West 39th Street between Genessee Street and Terrace Street, the fan event will be free and open to the public for attendees of all ages. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT - including live music, yard games and drink specials - and the watch party will feature a large LED screen for viewing Sporting Kansas City's nationally-televised season opener live at 2 p.m. CT.
Fans planning to attend the State Line Block Party are required to reserve a free ticket via SeatGeek in advance. The event will also incorporate local businesses in the area and ticket holders will have the opportunity to complete a State Line Block Party passport to receive a complimentary copy of Sporting's "One Club" commemorative book highlighting the historic first 25 years of Major League Soccer in Kansas City.
"The state line element in the Sporting Kansas City crest embodies our club's commitment to bringing two states and two cities together as one region," said Sporting KC Director of Fan Development Blake McFarland. "It's a fundamental and distinctive part of our brand, and we want to continue to amplify that in greater detail. This event will take place nearly on the state line and we can't wait to welcome supporters from both Kansas and Missouri to kick off our season with an experience that not only celebrates our team but also our community of fans."
Led by Manager Peter Vermes and captain Johnny Russell, Sporting will begin the team's 27th season on Feb. 27 versus Atlanta United FC inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium with the earliest regular season match in club history. The club's fast-approaching home opener then arrives on Saturday, March 5 against longtime rivals Houston Dynamo FC with kick off set for 2:30 p.m. CT at Children's Mercy Park.
