HOUSTON (Tuesday, April 1, 2014) - Houston Dynamo Academy midfielder Christian Lucatero has been called-up by U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team head coach Javier Perez for a 10-day training camp at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif., from April 4-13
Lucatero is one of 24 players called up for the camp, which will include a pair of friendly matches against Canada on April 8 and Mexico on April 12.
"Luca is having an outstanding season and has a positive impact in every game," said Houston Dynamo director of youth development James Clarkson. "He is a very exciting player and works really hard every day at training. Hopefully he can carry his current form into the camp."
Lucatero, 16, is currently a member of the Dynamo Academy U-18 team and has scored eight goals during the current U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. The midfielder was named to the Development Academy select roster at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase in December, and was voted Dynamo Academy Player of the Year at the 2013 Dynamo Celebration. Last year, the Pasadena, Texas native was an influential part of the Dynamo Academy U-16 team that reached the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week at Houston Sports Park.
After the April camp, the U.S. U-18s will next meet at the end of May for the Lisbon International Tournament in Lisbon, Portugal.
