Chivas USA Academy Defender Hugo Arellano Called up to U.S. U-17 National Team

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, April 1, 2014) - Chivas USA Youth Development Academy defender Hugo Arellano has been called up to the U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team led by Head Coach Richie Williams. Arellano and the youth national squad will compete in the Josip Katalinski International Tournament that will run from April 3-6 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. After concluding their participation in the tournament, the American squad will play two friendly matches against Croatia's U-17 National Team in Zagreb, Croatia.

Arellano, who has become a regular on the young Stars and Stripes team, is currently on international duty in the spring semester of the U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. The Red-and-White Youth Academy product was most recently part of the U.S. U-15 National Team in 2013. Beginning in September of 2013, Arellano joined the U-17 MNT for his first call-up, where he participated in domestic and international tournaments.

The U.S. U17s will kick off action in the Katalinski tournament by facing Montenegro's U-17 National Team on April 3 and then the Sarajevo Select U17s the following day. Based on the tournament results, the Americans will go on to face Bosnia, Belgrade or Macedonia's U-17 MNT on April 6 in the placement match.

The U.S. will conclude their European trip with a pair of friendlies against Croatia's U-17 MNT on April 8 and 10.
