
Hounds battle past Otters

Cody Thornton scored twice to lead the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to a 7-2 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 4,200 at the Tullio Arena. Josh Godfrey added a goal and two assists for the Greyhounds, who won for the fourth straight time to improve to 28-20-0-5.Chris McKinnon, David Kuchejda, Brandon Biggers and Brandon MacLean also scored for Sault Ste. Marie while Jiri Tlusty collected four assists. Kelly Geoffrey and Stanislav Polodna replied for the Otters, who dropped their fourth straight and are now 13-38-1-2. The Greyhounds led 2-0 after one and 4-1 heading into the third. Sault Ste. Marie out shot the Otters 49-20 in the game as Jonathan Laniel took the loss. The three stars of the game were all from the'Hounds. Tlusty was the first, Godfrey the second and Thornton the third.
The Otters close out the weekend tomorrow (Sunday) night when the London Knights visit for a special 6 p.m. start at the Tullio Arena presented by the Bel Aire Hotel and Conference Center. Tickets for the game are on sale now at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office. The game can be heard live on True Oldies 1330 beginning with the pre-game show at 5:45 p.m. The game can also be seen tape delayed on the Image Sports Network on Tuesday (February 13th) at 7:30 p.m.
