Tonight is the first-ever Llama Night at Bowling Green Ballpark!

On Thursday... Erik Ostberg's home run in the eighth inning lifted the Hot Rods over the Braves 3-1 Thursday night. This was Ostberg's first home run with Bowling Green since returning from AA Montgomery on May 25th. Peyton Battenfield led the pitching staff with eight K's, while his counterpart for the Braves, Bryce Elder, struck out a career high 10 batters.

About Rome... The Braves scored another run to start the game on a double steal Thursday. The top three hitters in the lineup combined for five of Rome's six hits. Michael Harris and Kevin Joseph- ina both had two hits, with Harris II having the only extra-base hit for the Braves. This is the third time this season Rome has scored one run. They have yet to be shut out in 2021.

Battle at the Top... With a win Thursday, Bowling Green took a 1.0 game lead over Rome for the top spot in the High-A East South Division. Rome and Winston-Salem are now tied for second place in the division at 15-12. Bowling Green has the second-best record in the High-A East, sitting behind the Aberdeen IronBirds who are 17-7 and come to Bowling Green Ballpark next week.

Still Streaking... In all 23 games that Ruben Cardenas has played this season he has reached base. He has also collected a hit in each of his last 13 games. Over the 13-game span he is hitting 13-51 (.294) with four homers, 10 RBIs, and five walks. He is hitting .333 and has an OBP of .400 on the season.

Slam-Season... With the bases loaded this season, the Hot Rods have come through with five grand slams. Jacson Mc- Gowan launched two and Erik Ostberg hit one in the first series of the season in Greenville, South Carolina. In the first home series against Asheville, Greg Jones hit the lone walk-off and extra inning home run, which happened to be a grand slam. Ruben Cardenas hit his first this season in the Hot Rods win on Wednes- day.

Wednesday's Notes... Cardenas extended his on-base streak to 23 games and his hit streak 13 games... Ostberg's home run was his first since returning to the Hot Rods after a brief call-up to AA Montgomery... This was his third multi-RBI game of the year... McGowan had his third multi-hit game of the season... Battenfield pitched a career high 5.0 innings... The win gives the Hot Rods the High-A East South Division lead... They sit 1.0 game ahead of Rome... They are 5-4 against the Braves this season... Bowling Green is 3-0 in two-run games this year... BG is 5-4 when op- ponents score first... They are 5-9 while opponents out hit them... The Hot Rods have hit nine home runs in the eighth inning or later in 2021... They have also scored 36 runs in the eighth inning or later...

Now pitching: Zack Trageton... Trageton has tossed 19.1 innings on the mound for Bowling Green in 2021. His most recent start ended in a no-decision in Asheville, where he pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out four and walking two. He hurled his longest outing of the season on May 23rd against Rome, going 5.0 innings and picking up his first win on the year.
