
Hot Rods Fall to Dragons 5-4

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell in game one against the Dayton Dragons 5-4. The Hot Rods were down 5-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning and fought back to get the tying run to second in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't push the game to extras
The game started as a pitcher's duel, and there were no runs scored in the first five innings. RHP Riley O'Brien and only allowed one hit in his four innings of work. He walked five and struck out six. RHP Andrew Jordan matched him pitch by pitch and then some, as he went six innings and only allowed two hits, one walk, and one unearned run.
The Dragons got on the board first in the top of the fifth when SS Jose Garcia hit a leadoff double that was followed up by a RBI single from CF Miles Gordon. 1B Montrell Marshall added on two more with a single and the Dragons has a 3-0 lead.
Bowling Green responded in the bottom of the sixth when SS Taylor Walls singled, advanced to third on an error, and scored on a wild pitch to give the Hot Rods their first run of the game.
In the seventh the two teams matched two run frames. The Dragons got their two runs on a two run home run by LF Staurt Fairchild. The Hot Rods scored two after stringing together a couple hits and walks. RF Eleardo Cabrera and CF Emilio Gustave picked up the RBIs.
The Hot Rods added on another run in the eighth when 1B Devin Davis hit an RBI fielder's choice to score 2B Zach Rutherford and pull the Hot Rods within one. Walls singled with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. However two straight strikeouts stranded him there and secured the win for Dayton. Jordan picked up the win and RHP Tyler Zombro took his first loss of the year. RHP Cory Thompson picked up the save.
The Dragons and the Hot Rods meet again tomorrow at 6:35 pm. RHP Drew Strotman (3-0, 3.43) gets the start for the Hot Rods and he'll be opposed by RHP Adrian Rodriguez (2-0, 4.82).
