Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA -The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the Rome Braves 7-1 in front of 3,002 fans at State Mutual Stadium Saturday night. The Braves drop to 9-14 on the season.
The Hot Rods scored two runs in the third inning to take the 2-0 lead highlighted by an RBI single from Jake Jeffries and a Tim Beckham groundout. In the fifth the Braves cut the lead to 2-1on a solo homerun by Ryan Barba but that's all the offense Rome could muster on the night.
Bowling Green added one run in the seventh on a Henry Wrigley RBI single, and in the eighth the Hot Rods added four more to give them the 7-1 advantage. The first run of the inning crossed the plate as Anthony Scelfo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Next, Tim Beckham hit into a fielder's choice to score Justin Reynolds. Jeffries contributed with an RBI single, and Scelfo later came around to score on a ground out by Wrigley.
Matt Moore (2-1) gets the win for the Hot Rods while Brett DeVall (0-1) was the losing pitcher for the Braves.
Rome takes on Bowling Green at home tomorrow at 2 PM. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
