Boise Hawks News Release

EUGENE, Ore. - A two-run double by Jeremy Baltz in the fifth inning scored the eventual winning runs, as the Eugene Emeralds won their third-straight game over the Boise Hawks, 7-4, before 2,658 fans at PK Park.

The Ems have won 10 of their last 11 games, while the Hawks have lost four-straight and dropped five in a row on the road.

Boise jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Stephen Bruno and Willson Contreras. However, it was short-lived, as Eugene took advantage of wildness from Hawks starter Jose Arias to tie the score. The right hander gave up a single to Alberth Martinez, then walked a pair of batters and hit Ronnie Richardson to force in a run. Stephen Carmon followed with a RBI single to tie the game.

Eugene took the lead for good in the third, as Alexi Colon doubled, scoring on a Martinez fielders' choice. River Stevens added an RBI single to push the lead to 4-2. The Ems would tack on three in the fifth - two on Baltz's double, followed by a Maxx Tissenbaum RBI double.

The Hawks would close the gap to 7-4 in the eighth on a Gioskar Amaya RBI single, but Chris Nunn fanned Marco Hernandez to get out of the inning.

Collin Reynolds struck out three to pick up the win for Eugene, while Arias lasted just two-plus innings to take his first loss. Amaya, Bruno, and Contreras each had two hits for the Hawks, while Baltz went 2-for-5 for the Ems.

Game 4 of the series is tomorrow afternoon, with James Pugliese meeting Juan Marcano at 2:05 p.m. (MT)
