Boise Hawks News Release

EUGENE, Ore. - Alexi Colon went 3-for-4 with four RBI, helping the Eugene Emeralds to their 12th win in 13 games, defeating the Boise Hawks, 8-1, before 4,269 fans at PK Park.

Colon broke open a close game in the third inning, ripping a three-run double off the centerfield wall to give the hosts a 6-0 lead.

It was enough for Juan Marcano, who allowed one run on six hits, striking out four, to pick up his second win of the season.

Eugene took a 2-0 lead in the second, as Dane Phillips scored on a James Pugliese wild pitch, with Colon following with an RBI single to left to score Alberth Martinez. The Hawks had a chance in the third, but Gioskar Amaya was thrown out at the plate by Martinez, trying to score on a Stephen Bruno single, to end the inning.

Boise got on the board in the fourth, as Willson Contreras scored on a wild pitch, but Jeremy Baltz hit his first professional homer in the bottom of the inning, with a Martinez RBI triple in the seventh capping the scoring.

Martinez went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, with Baltz and Stephen Carmon adding two hits for the Ems. No Boise hitter had a multi-hit game, with Pugliese allowing seven runs in four innings to take the loss.

The series finale is tomorrow night, with Tayler Scott meeting Brandon Alger at 8:05 p.m. (MT)
