ROSEMONT, Ill. - Jordan Dean and Victor Roache homered to back a solid pitching staff performance as the Chicago Dogs took down the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at Impact Field.

Tony Rosselli also had himself a day, finishing 4-for-4 with a double, three singles, and a run scored. With the win, the Dogs overcame three defensive errors and clinched their first series victory since June 14-16 vs. Fargo-Moorhead.

Dean launched a solo shot to left for his fourth home run of the year, putting the Dogs on the board and up 1-0 in the bottom of the first.

Winnipeg tied the game in the top of the second when a passed ball brought home Kyle Martin.

After a 47-minute weather delay, play resumed in the top of the third inning as Carlos Zambrano (W, 2-0) took the mound in relief of Dogs starter Austin Wright. Big Z worked a season-high 2.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

The Dogs retook the lead in the bottom half of the frame. Roache slugged a solo home run, his eighth of the year and second in as many games, to give Chicago the 2-1 advantage.

Chicago tacked on two more runs in the fourth. A run-scoring groundout by Edwin Arroyo coupled with an RBI single by David Olmedo-Barrera pushed the Dogs' lead to 4-1.

Arroyo plated another run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, increasing Chicago's lead to four.

Rich Mascheri provided three strong innings of relief, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out three.

Kyle Halbohn worked the ninth for his fourth save of the season.

The Dogs have an off day tomorrow before embarking on a six-day Texas road trip. First up is a three-game set with the Cleburne Railroaders, beginning on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7:06 PM.
