Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - A masterful eight-inning, three-hit shutout from Hillsboro LHP Jared Miller snapped the Canadians three-game winning streak on Monday night as Vancouver fell 7-0 out at Scotiabank Field.
Hillsboro gave Miller plenty of run support early, scoring three runs in both the 1st and 3rd inning that chased Canadians starter LHP Evan Smith from the game after just 2 2/3 innings of work. Vancouver had its challenges on defense collecting four errors on the night which accounted for five of the six runs allowed by Smith.
Hops DH Luis Veras had three hits including a solo home run to lead off the top of the 3rd inning and C Alexis Olmeda also collected three hits and an RBI in the lopsided loss that dropped Vancouver's record to 6-6 (.500) while improving Hillsboro to 6-6 (.500) as well.
These two teams wrap up this five-game series on Tuesday, June 30th at 7:05pm as RHP Francisco Rios (0-2, 7.36) gets the ball in hopes of giving Vancouver a 4th win in the past five.
