Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox benefited from four walks and two errors in the bottom of the seventh to take a 10-7 win over Boise on Monday, June 29, at Everett Memorial Stadium. Braden Bishop had the only hit in the inning, a leadoff double, as the rest of the runs were scored on walks, errors or a sacrifice fly.
Everett put up five runs in the bottom of the fifth, as Boise pitchers Alec Kenilvort and Justin Lawrence combined for the four walks issued in the inning. Logan Cozart came on to finish the inning for Boise, giving up a sac fly and a flyout.
It looked like the Hawks could end the inning with a double play on Conner Hale's ground ball to shortstop, but second baseman Luis Castro dropped the force out and threw the ball away trying to get Alex Jackson out at home to keep all runners safe and score two runs. That big inning put the Frogs up for good at 10-7.
The AquaSox got four runs in the bottom of the fourth after Corey Simpson led off the inning with the team's first hit - a home run. Conner Hale doubled to score Drew Jackson, then was brought in on Yordi Calderon's single. Calderon then scored when Jordan Cowan singled to tie the game at 4 runs apiece.
Everett got its other run when Drew Jackson led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk. He stole second during the next at-bat, and after a strikeout he stole third during the next at-bat, scoring on a wild pitch a few pitches later.
Braden Bishop led the AquaSox with two doubles, and Yordi Calderon went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.
