GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Grasshoppers edged the Hickory Crawdads, 4-2, at NewBridge Bank Park on Saturday night .

The Grasshoppers (5-5, 51-29) struck first with two runs against LHP Victor Payano in the bottom of the second inning. After a lead-off single by 3B Josh Adams, 1B Ryan Rieger knocked him in with an RBI double. Rieger later came in on an RBI ground out by C Tony Caldwell, making it 2-0.

The Crawdads (7-3, 43-36) sliced the deficit in half in the top of the third. SS Nick Urbanus started the stanza with a walk, and then worked around to third base on a pair of wild pitches from LHP Charlie Lowell throughout the inning. With two down, LF Trever Adams brought Urbanus in with an RBI infield single, cutting it to 2-1.

Adams struck again to tie it in the top of the fifth against RHP James Nygren (W, 5-1). With two down and the bases empty, Adams belted a solo bomb inside the left-field foul pole, squaring the score, 2-2.

However, Greensboro retook the lead against RHP Arlett Mavare (L, 2-3) in the bottom of the sixth. Caldwell was hit by a pitch to start the inning, and then took second on a balk. One out later, he darted home on an RBI double by SS Ryan Goetz, lifting Greensboro in front, 3-2.

The Grasshoppers added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single from LF James Wooster, doubling the late lead. RHP Brad Mincey (S, 5) closed the 4-2 win for Greensboro with a scoreless ninth.
