FRISCO, TX - Jhon Florentino's lead-off double in the eighth inning Sunday night blossomed into a late run for Corpus Christi as the Hooks knocked off Frisco 2-1 in their series finale at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Corpus Christi, having won five of its last seven games, improves to 5-17 in the second half and 41-51 overall.

With the contest locked at one in the eighth, Florentino cracked a double onto the track and off the wall in right field to begin the rally. Lou Santangelo then bunted to the pitcher Ben Snyder who made a clean pickup but dropped the ball when attempting to throw to third base. No error was charged on the play and Santangelo was credited with a sacrifice thanks to Florentino's advancement to third. Jose Vallejo followed and bounced into a 6-4-3 double play to plate the winning tally.

In his third start this season, Henry Villar faced one over the minimum through the first five of his six innings, holding the RoughRiders to one run on two hits. Pressed into a starting role after 25 relief appearances, Villar had allowed 12 earned runs over his last two outings (4.2 innings).

James Tomlin's double in the eighth inning for Frisco (15-7, 53-38) was the lone blemish on the line of Fernando Abad (3-3). The Dominican lefty fanned five in two frames to earn the victory. Evan Englebrook notched his second save for the Hooks with a perfect ninth inning.

Koby Clemens' 19th home run of the season came in the seventh inning off Snyder (2-3). Clemens' blast to left field tied the game at one and put him in sole possession of second place in the Texas League, two behind leading long-ball man Mike Moustakas.

J.B. Shuck went 1-for-3 with a walk, extending his hitting streak to six games.

Corpus Christi returns to Whataburger Field for a four-game series against Midland. Hooks lefty Tyler Lumsden (4-7) takes on Matt Wright (2-0) in the opener Monday night. Gates open at 5:30 and first pitch is 7:05 as the first 1,500 kids 12-&-under receive a Hooks Toothbrush Holder courtesy of Star Orthodontics.
