Rochester Honkers News Release
(Rochester, Minn.) - The Rochester Honkers and Olmsted County Public Health have teamed up to present I Bike/Walk Rochester on Sunday June 19. Free game tickets will be given to the first 200 walkers and bikers, while supplies last, to watch the Honkers battle the Willmar Stingers.
"It has been a great partnership for six years," said Kari Etrheim of Olmsted County Public Health. "It is a great day to enjoy a family pastime, support the local team and to do some outdoor activates to help stay healthy."
Walkers are to park and walk the trail from the 4th street parking lot, which is the Farmer's Market lot. Bikers are to bike to the event on the river trail and park their bike at the stadium. Etrheim thinks this event is a great way to showcase the trails that Rochester has to offer.
"It is a way to highlight our 95 miles of trails in Rochester," Etrheim said. "People also get the opportunity to watch a great game."
Walkers will get their ticket in the parking lot before they walk to the stadium, while the bikers will receive their ticket at the stadium. There will be one ticket per walker and one ticket per biker.
Make sure to be there by first pitch at 1:05 p.m., and look for the staff in the bright yellow shirts to receive your free ticket.
Another I Bike/Walk Rochester to the Honkers' game will be taking place Sunday July 10.
The Rochester Honkers are in Waterloo to take on the Bucks tonight, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. The Honkers will travel to Mankato Wednesday to play two, seven inning games, against the MoonDogs. The first game will start at 6:05 p.m. and the second game will start approximately 30 minutes after the first game is done. The next Honkers home game is Thursday against the Mankato MoonDogs. Take a seat and relax your feet with the Honkers after enjoying Rochester's Thursdays on First.
