Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Kingfish dropped their second game of the series to Kalamazoo today by a final of 6-3, giving the Growlers the series sweep.
Once again, Kenosha got out to an early lead with two runs in the 1st thanks to a Kalamazoo throwing error, and a Mason Fishback infield single. In the 5th inning, with the Kingfish leading 2-1, Pete Schuler singled home JD Hearn, and the Kingfish led 3-1. It wasn't enough, however, as Kalamazoo retaliated with 5 straight runs to take the win.
Alex Hamilton took the mound for the Kingfish, but lasted only three innings due to an elevated pitch count. He yielded only 1 run, 4 hits, and struck out 5. Chase Thurston made his Northwoods League debut, and gave up 2 ER in 2.1 IP, and JR Holloway let up 3 in 1.1 IP. Ty Harris worked the final 1.1 IP and gave up one hit and no runs.
Offensively, the Kingfish as a club compiled 5 hits. Kian O'Brien went 2 for 4 and led the way. JD Hearn finished 1 for 3, while Pete Schuler and Mason Fishback each totaled 1 hit in 4 at bats.
The loss is Kenosha's third straight and drops the Kingfish to 4-4. The Kingfish will head to Rockford tomorrow to meet the Rivets on the diamond for the first time in franchise history.
