
Late Rally Falls Short as Bullfrogs Drop Series Final to Bombers

Green Bay, Wis. - Bullfrogs late inning rally falls shorts as they fall to the Battle Creek Bombers 8-5. This loss completes the sweep of the Bullfrogs, their record now drops to 3-5 on the year.
Luke Lind got the start for the Bullfrogs in today's game. He went three plus but was replaced by Luke VanLanen in the middle of the fourth. Lind didn't give up any earned runs and had two strikeouts. In the top of the fourth the Bullfrogs tied the game at two after a leadoff double by Eustace and a base hit by Botsoe. Eustace scored on a double steal and Owen hit in Botsoe for the second run.
In the bottom of the sixth, Logan Elliot came into the game for the Bullfrogs. In his third appearance, Elliot gave up two runs off a two out triple by Ryan Dorrow. As we headed into the eighth, the Bullfrogs were down 5-2. The top of the order, once again, got the offense going. Eustace led off with a single followed by a Botsoe double down the line. Eustace scored on a Shoemaker ground ball to the second baseman Helsel. Botsoe scored the fourth run on a balk.
In the bottom of eight, the Bombers scored three runs to take a four run lead top of the ninth. Jonah Davis picked up his first hit of the season to begin the top of the ninth. The Bullfrogs had the tying run to plate but were only able to get one run to score.
Hunter Owen finished the day with two hits, one RBI, and two stolen bases. Eustace and Botsoe had a pair of hits, both legging out doubles.
The Bullfrogs will be back in action tomorrow night as they face the Kalamazoo Growlers. Austin Hancock will be on the mound. First pitch is slated for 6:35pm, gates open at 5:35.
