Homers Power Drive Past Rome for Fourth-Straight Night, 4-3

Greenville, S.C. - Tied at 1-1 in the fourth inning Joe Davis hit a two-run homer and Stephen Scott belted a solo shot to give the Drive all the runs they would need to win, 4-3, for their fourth-straight win over Rome Friday night at Fluor Field.

The Drive combined for seven hits on the evening, including two homers and a triple. Davis led the way with his two RBI on his fifth homer in a Drive uniform. Scott, solo homer, and Cam Cannon, RBI single, accounted for the other runs. Brandon Howlett had the only multi-hit effort of the night with two singles.

Chase Shugart started for Greenville and earned the win. He tossed 6.0 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Oddanier Mosqueda picked up his second hold on the year after hurling 2.0 innings with three strikeouts. Cody Scroggins closed the game out in the ninth with his second save of the year. He fanned one.

Darius Vines took the loss after relenting four runs over 5.2 innings.

The Braves got on the board in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead on a Ruber Estrada RBI single.

Greenville then tied it up in the bottom of the third. With one out, Brannen skied a deep ball to right-center that one-hopped the wall for a triple. After a flyout, Cannon lined an RBI single to left-center to tie it at 1-1.

They extended their lead to 4-1 an inning later. Tyler Dearden drew a leadoff walk. Davis then came to the plate with one out and obliterated a 2-0 fastball to left field that banged off the light tower, traveling 415 ft. with a 101 exit velocity. Two batters later, Scott lined a first pitch over the right field wall. The ball traveled 383 ft and left the bat at 105 MPH.

Rome got a run back in the top of the sixth inning on an unearned run on an RBI groundout by Jesse Franklin.

They inched closer in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Shean Michel, making the score 4-3 in favor of the home team.

Game five is scheduled for 7:05 Saturday night at Fluor Field. The Drive are set to throw Yusniel Padron-Artiles while the Braves are slated to start Coleman Huntley III.
