SLIPPERY ROCK, PA (June 12, 2007)-Left fielder Paul Rutgers homerun in the top half of the eighth inning Tuesday afternoon off of reliever Brian Baxter propelled the Chilicothe Paints over the Slippery Rock Sliders, 3-2. The loss gives the Sliders a split of the two-game series at Jack Critchfield Park. The Sliders (7-12) will now travel to Evansville for their first interleague matchup of the season. The Sliders will return to Jack Critchfield Park next Tuesday to host the Otters for a three game series.

The Sliders got RBI singles from left fielder Casey Bowling and catcher Bernie Dennis in the third and fourth innings, respectively. The Paints cut the deficit to one run in the top of the 6th on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Jon Poterson that brought home shortstop Travis Garcia. Garcia hit a triple off the left field wall to put himself into scoring position.

The lead held until the eighth inning when Rutgers hit the homerun to left field. Baxter took the loss for the Sliders, while Chillicothe starter Perry Cunningham picked up his second win of the season for the Paints. Cunningham pitched seven innings, surrendering two runs, one earned on six hits. He struck out six Sliders' batters in victory.

Sliders starter Nick Tracy gave up only one run in seven innings of work for the no-decision. Sliders newest reliever Jon Tapper pitched a scoreless inning and recorded three strikeouts. Bowling added two more hits in Wednesday's game, raising hit batting average near the .500 mark in the past six games.
