Gateway Grizzlies News Release

The Gateway Grizzlies (16-4) scored seven unanswered runs Tuesday night to comeback for a 9-7 win over the Evansville Otters (8-12). The win, the Grizzlies fourth straight, gave the Grizzlies their third four-game sweep this season.

The Grizzlies used a four-run fifth inning to take the lead from the Otters. With the Grizzlies trailing 7-4, Dustin Roberts led off the inning with his sixth home run of the year. Mike Breyman followed with his league-leading 11th double. Four batters later Manny Paula walked with the based loaded to force home Breyman to make it 7-6. Jesse Acosta drove in two with a single to right, giving the Grizzlies the lead for good. They would add a run in the sixth to make it 9-7. Acosta was 2-5 with the two RBIs. Roberts was 2-5.

Evansville used a two-run first to get out early. They added a run in the second to go up 3-0.

In the bottom of the second, newly acquired infielder Greg Andrews drilled a one-out, two-run shot to the lawn in right to make it 3-2. Andrews, in his second stint with the Grizzlies, was signed earlier in the day. Andrews was 3-4 with the pair of RBIs.

Evansville scored four in the top of the fourth to go up 7-2.

Newcomer Kyle Warren earned the win in relief. Warren tossed 1.2 innings, allowing a run on a hit. Fellow newcomer Jason Herman tossed a perfect ninth for his first save of the year. Both pitchers were making their Grizzlies' debut. James Hertel tossed three scoreless innings, allowing a hit. Justin Roelle started and went 3.1, allowing six Evansville runs.

The Grizzlies begin a three-game series and a six-game road trip in Traverse City, MI Wednesday night. Game time is 6:05, central time.
