Lake Erie Crushers News Release
AVON, OHIO. - The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, saw their struggles at home and against Joliet continue on Thursday night. The Slammers scored four times in the third and cruised to a 5-1 win.
It was a rocky start for Crushers starer Justin Sinibaldi (1-4). Joliet scored four times in the third inning. Former Crusher L.J. Kalawaia singled home the first run and Danny Zardon followed with an RBI single of his own. The inning was capped off by a two-run single from Chaz Meadows making it 4-0.
Sinibaldi went five innings and got charged for four runs, two of which were earned. He walked five and struck out six on 102 pitches.
Joliet starting pitcher Daren Osby (6-2) allowed just two hits through the first four innings. The lone run he allowed came in the sixth after back-to-back hits by Dane Hutcheon and Joel McKeithan. Cody Lenahan then drove in Hutcheon to get the Crushers on the board. Hutcheon, McKeithan, and Zach Racusin each registered two hits in the game.
Joliet added a run in the seventh against reliever Kent Hasler who pitched two innings out of the bullpen. Seth Lucio and Logan Lombana combined to finish the game for the Crushers.
Joliet improves to 47-34 and extends their division lead to five games over the Crushers. Lake Erie also drops 0.5 game back of Southern Illinois for the final playoff spot.
Lake Erie (42-39) heads to Schaumburg tomorrow for a three game series that begins at 6:30 CDT. Jake Repavich (1-1) gets the start for the Crushers while the Boomers go with Quinn DiPasquale (1-1).
