Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans locked up the series finale against the GreenJackets on Sunday with a final score of 7-1. All runs for the Birds came as a result of four home runs. The victory marked the the 400th career win with the Pelicans for manager Buddy Bailey. He has served as the skipper for the club in 2015-2017 and 2021-2023.
The offensive effort for Myrtle Beach was kick-started by Malcom Quintero who homered in the top of the 4th inning to but the Birds on the board. It was his first of the season. Reivaj Garcia and Andy Garriola each delivered two-run homers in the top of the 7th to put the Birds up 5-1. Pedro Ramirez posted the final homer of the day for the Pelicans in the top of the 8th bringing Quintero home and extending the lead to 7-1.
Luis Rujano started the game for Myrtle Beach and delivered 3 innings of work allowing only one earned run and striking out five. Koen Moreno came out of the bullpen to provide 3.2 innings of work and also striking out five. Moreno was credited with the win, giving him a 4-2 record on the season, while Augusta's Adam Shoemaker took the loss.
The Pelicans will take a few days off in conjunction with the MLB All-Star Break. Their next game is Friday, July 14 at Pelicans Ballpark against the Carolina Mudcats.
