Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

Moosic, Pa. - A 3:42 minute nightmare came to a close Sunday night at PNC Field as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) awoke from a painful slumber to a 13-9 drilling at the hands of the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox). The two clubs combined for 30 hits, including 10 extra-base by the RailRiders' offensive nine, while seven different Charlotte hitters collected an RBI in the affair.

The juggernaut offensive performance saw the RailRiders homer five times, including two-run shots by Adonis Garcia and Kyle Roller in the third and fifth. Roller's jack in fifth gave the RailRiders a brief lead at 7-6 advantage. Recently received Yangervis Solarte collected three hits en route to a 3-for-5 day at the plate, including a double and a triple in just his second game as a RailRider.

After climbing to the top of the mountain, the sea-saw affair turned ugly in the sixth. A one-run RailRiders lead eroded quickly as a missed fly ball error by Antoan Richardson, combined with another two-base miscue by outfielder Jose Pirela, allowed the Knights to hang the crooked number in the sixth. Charlotte marched 11 men to the plate, with six of the seven runs in the backbreaking frame going against the ledger of reliever Danny Burawa (3-1) who took the loss.

Sunday night's affair included the pitching debuts of outfielder Taylor Dugas and Richardson, who combined to spin the final 2.1 innings to calm the hot-hitting Knights. Maikel Cleto (2-0) twirled three scoreless to secure the win. The four-game run with the Knights rolls on Monday, July 7 with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will hope left-hander Nik Turley (0-1, 4.70) can give them some innings, while Charlotte counters with righty Daniel McCutchen (0-0, 10.80). John Sadak and Aaron Berlin will have the call on MyNetwork TV while longtime voice Jim Riley fills in on radio. The pregame show begins at 6:35 p.m. on NEPA Sports Radio -The GAME, Northeast PA's largest radio network: 100.7 FM, 1340 WYCK-AM, 1400 WICK-AM, 1440 WCDL-AM and 106.7 FM. OFF THE RAILS:

The RailRiders combined for five home runs on the evening, including back-to-back solo jacks by Corban Joseph and Austin Romine in the seventh. The back-to-back home runs marked the first time the RailRiders accomplished the feat since Ronnier Mustelier and Randy Ruiz went back-to-back August 31, 2013 against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The five home runs hit marked the most for the RailRiders since July 2, 2013 at Pawtucket.

Yangervis Solarte went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple in just his second game with SWB since his July 3 option from New York. Solarte is 6-for-8 since his demotion with three extra-base hits.

The 3:42 minute affair marked the longest nine-inning game for the RailRiders this season. The previous high-water mark had been a 3:40 minute debacle on May 30 at Indianapolis.
