Worcester Tornadoes News Release

WORCESTER, MA- The Tornadoes have 2,000 members in the Home Run Club and it's not the players hitting the home runs.

During the month of May, the Tornadoes teamed up with Worcester Public Schools to establish a month long reading incentive program called the Home Run Club. To achieve Home Run status, students in kindergarten through fourth grade were asked to read 16 books and students in grades five through eight were asked to read books totaling at least 400 pages.

"We are thrilled to be involved with Worcester Public Schools in such an important initiative. It underscores our organization's commitment to community service all year long," said Alan Stone, Tornadoes President and CEO. "We are delighted, but not surprised that so many Worcester public school students were able to 'hit it out of the park' and join the Home Run Club."

The incentive for participating in this program was that students would receive two tickets to a future Tornadoes game for themselves and a guest.

For more information, contact the Tornadoes at 508-792-2288 or go online to www.worcestertornadoes.com. Hootie and the Blowfish come to Hanover Insurance Park on Saturday, July 8th, and Lyle Lovett performs on Saturday, August 19th.
