Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Chris Holt stopped all 32 shots he faced and Lance Galbraith scored twice as Alaska avenged two earlier losses to Bakersfield with a 6-0 whipping of the Condors before 5,761 Saturday at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces (14-7-1) had lost four of their previous five games, all by a single goal, but exploded for two goals in the first period and three in the second to chase Bakersfield starter Dave McKee. Alaska retains a three-point lead in the West Division over Idaho and Victoria. The Aces meet the Steelheads, who have won eight of their last 11 games after a win over Utah Saturday, in a three-game series at Sullivan Arena next weekend.

Galbraith set the win over the Condors in motion with a tip-in of a Colin Hemingway backhander at 13:01 of the first period. Scott Burt stuffed home Erik Felde's centering pass less than three minutes later, and Alaska led 2-0 at the break. Nick Tuzzolino scored his first goal of the year on the power play with a slap shot from the point at 7:16 of the second period, then Burt fed Galbraith to push the lead to 4-0 with 5:34 left in the frame.

Center Alexandre Imbeault had been returned on loan from the Aces AHL affiliate in Peoria late Friday night, and celebrated his return to the Alaska lineup with an assist on Hemingway's rocket from the right circle with 1:59 remaining in the second period that ended the competitive phase of the game. Yutaka Fukufuji replaced McKee for the final 20 minutes, and gave up a power play goal scored by Erik Felde, the rookie's third goal of the series and fifth of the season, with 8:24 left in regulation. Holt polished off the Condors with 10 third period saves to collect his third win in an Aces sweater and his fifth career shutout.

Alaska and Idaho play next Friday and Saturday night at 7:15 p.m., with Sunday's series finale scheduled for 5:05 p.m. The Aces took five of a possible six points from the Steelheads in a three-game series played in Boise last month. Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage on KFQD AM 750 begins 15 minutes prior to the opening puck drop for each night next weekend.
