Salmon Kings End Road Trip On Winning Note

Fresno, CA - The Salmon Kings and Ontario Reign met for the second time this week as Victoria concluded its 14-day, 7-game road trip at the Citizen's Business Bank Arena in California. Todd Ford started in net for the Salmon Kings while Jeff Zatkoff got the call for Ontario.

The Salmon Kings struck the first blow during the power play when Wes Goldie batted the puck out of the air and into the net after Dan Gendur's initial shot was stopped by Zatkoff. Victoria led 1-0 after 20 minutes.

The Reign came out and notched two goals to start the second period. Jon Rheault scored Ontario's first goal when he fired a shot from the slot top corner glove side to tie the game. Todd Jackson made it 2-1 for the home side when he took advantage of a Ford rebound. Victoria would respond on the power play. Dylan Yeo fired a shot from the left point that Zatkoff would save, but Filion corralled the rebound a slid it in the open cage. The teams would be tied at 2-2 after 40 minutes.

The Salmon Kings would score the difference maker late in the third when Sean O'Connor picked up a Yeo shot that went wide and bounced off the end boards and banked it off Zatkoff and into the net. Salmon Kings 3 Reign 2.

Victoria finished 2/3=33.3% on the power play, while Reign finished 0/2=0%. Final shots were 40-34 for the Salmon Kings.
